Women in the North

CFP: North West Labour History Journal

The theme of the North West Labour History journal for 2003 will be Women in the North. We invite contributions, covering the period from the late C18th to last week, which take a look at women as political, industrial, social, cultural and community activists. We would like to cover the broadest range of topics:- from suffragettes to punkettes, Clarion cyclists to sit-ins, Chartists to feminists, barmaids to MPs and so forth. We seek research articles, personal accounts, dusty diaries, half-forgotten autobiographies, poems and songs, photos and videos and anything else that will illuminate the lives of northern working class women over the past two centuries. Please contact in the first instance the journal editor Michael Herbert, michael@mossleybrow.demon.co.uk.

Please note that the correct email address for contacting the North West Labour History Group regarding sales of its 2002 issue on The North in the 70s is dannydcrosby@hotmail.com.
