Cultural Conflicts, Social Movements and New Rights: A European Challenge
20-22 October 2006, Cortona, Italy

The Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli, in cooperation with several Italian universities, invites PhD candidates and young researchers from a variety of disciplines (sociology, history, gender studies, cultural studies and more) to submit proposals for participation in the Cortona Colloquium 2006, to be held from 20-22 October 2006 in Cortona. The Colloquium will be focused around, but not limited to, the following research themes: Transnational Movements and Conflicts Social Movements, Media and Communications Women's Movements, Between Equality and Difference Global Conflict "In Our Backyard", Between Revolt and Movement Social Movements and Democracy.

The Colloquium will feature Professor Alain Touraine as its keynote speaker.
The Scientific Committee of the Colloquium is composed of the following members: Bianca Beccalli (University of Milan), Roberto Biorcio (University of Milan-Bicocca), Bruno Cartosio (University of Bergamo), Donatella Della Porta (European University Institute), Mario Diani (University of Trento), Francesca Forno (University of Bergamo), Giorgio Grossi (University of Milan-Bicocca), Mario Pianta (University of Urbino) and Tommaso Vitale (University of Milan-Bicocca).
