Many of the founding figures of social sciences, including sociology, anthropology, and criminology, were alive and active during the First World War. However, the impact of the war on their theoretical perspectives and their engagement with the war process have not been systematically examined. This two-day event brings together some of the most renowned scholars specializing on different aspects of the topic to examine their involvement in the war at personal and political levels; the implications of the war on their theories during and after the war; and the consequences of such historical re-examination on the conceptual foundation of social sciences.
