A new exhibition Childhood in Dickensian London opens 20 January 2020, to mark the 150th anniversary of Charles Dickens's death, celebrate his life, and work as one of the world’s most-loved writers on childhood. The exhibition explores Victorian London from the 1830s until the turn of the twentieth century, focusing on Dickens’s child characters and exploring the role of Dickens writing in helping to create a better childhood for us all. It is free and open to the public until 20 June 2020 at Senate House Library, University of London.

In this public symposium, contributors to the Irish Revolution series, published by Four Courts Press, will consider the various experiences of the Irish Revolution at a county level, explain the challenges involved in researching and writing from this perspective, and reflect on how their work has enhanced our understanding of Ireland between 1912 and 1923.

All contributions will be fifteen minutes in duration. Each session will conclude with a short question and answer session.

The Society for the Anthropology of Work (SAW) invites proposals for a new small grant intended to support research on the anthropology of work, broadly defined. The maximum amount for each award is $1500. These funds will be disbursed directly to the grant recipient and can be used for expenses such as transportation (including mileage reimbursement), visa fees, housing, meals, and incidentals.

El próximo día 10 de enero, a partir de las 18:00 horas, tendrá lugar en la sede la Fundación Anselmo Lorenzo de la calle Peñuelas 41, la inauguración de la exposición ‘Revolución Social y Guerra Civil’, a cargo del colectivo ‘Historia Viva Madrid Sur‘

La exposición, que contará con numerosos objetos de interés, así como mapas y fotografías del momento, estará disponible hasta el día 18 de enero.
