Cultures of Protest and Industrial Conflict in Italy since 1945

Publication

by Ilaria Favretto

In this work Ilaria Favretto employs an innovative methodological approach to the study of industrial conflict in Italy.
Favretto takes a wide view of what constitutes 'modern' protest, including tactics such as time wasting, sabotage, theft, alongside older forms of contention like charivari. In this work the aouthor also explores protest strategies, such as sit-ins, protest camps, and hunger strikes, that are rarely examined in the context of industrial action.
Furthermore, Favretto analyses the ways in which global dynamics shaped Italian protest culture - and how Italian protest culture influenced broader trends of global protest and industrial conflict.
