In order to grasp the heterogeneous nature and non-linear dynamics shaping the Afro-Asian movement, especially in view of the relative dearth – but increasing number – of studies that examine the everyday performance of Afro-Asian solidarity, this Special Issue of Itinerario will excavate the material, textual, affective, and performative dimensions of Afro-Asia in the early decolonisation era.

Si l’histoire et la mémoire sont fréquemment évoquées dans la presse et dans les discours, celles du mouvement ouvrier y sont quasiment inexistantes. Rares sont les revues qui se consacrent à cet aspect majeur de l’histoire contemporaine. La revue Mouvement ouvrier, lutte de classes et révolutions (revue d’histoire) se propose de combler cette lacune.

In memory of the scholarly work and political engagement of the critical economist Jörg Huffschmid, we are issuing this call for submissions to the competitive award named after him, which seeks to recognize outstanding work in the field of Political Economy; the Jörg Huffschmid Award is currently in its sixth iteration. It aims to encourage young scholars, in particular, to continue the tradition of critical thought which Jörg represented so outstandingly.

The Chair of Gender History at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, together with the Arbeitskreis Historische Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung e.V. and the Digital German Women's Archive (Digitales Deutsches Frauenarchiv), is organising a virtual international conference on "Digital Humanities and Gender History" on the four Friday afternoons of February 2021.

The current dual crises of the global CV-19 pandemic and the (also global) renewed struggle for racial justice have turned our attention to women worldwide whose critically important service roles bring to mind and expand on their similar occupations in the long nineteenth century. Women comprise the majority of the workforce that has been deemed “essential” during the pandemic--from healthcare and social services to retail and other service sector jobs.
