We are pleased to be able to give you two good news:
Klaus Tenfelde, in recent decades Germany’s most influential historian of labour and the working class, died on 1 July 2011, just seven weeks after he had retired from “his” Institute for Social Movements at the Ruhr University Bochum. In retirement, Tenfelde had hoped to continue work on his substantial “History of the Ruhr”, but a deceptive illness prevented it. Tenfelde is survived by his wife, Ellen and their two children.

Tiempos de Paz, Tiempos de Guerra", que tendrá lugar el martes 27 de septiembre a las 19: 30 h. en el Museo de la Ciudad - C/ Príncipe de Vergara, 140.
On 22 July 2011, 69 people were killed on the island Utøya near Oslo, at the annual summer camp of the Workers' Youth League (Arbeidernes ungdomsfylking, AUF), the youth wing of the Norwegian Labour Party.
The island Utøya was owned by the Oslo Trade Union Confederation from 1932 to 1950, then it was presented to the Workers' Youth League. It has been used for summer camps and other activities by the Labour movement for decades.
Knut Einar Eriksen, for many years director of the Labour Movement Archive and Library (Arbark) in Oslo, Norway, has retired.
He is succeeded by Frank Meyer, as of 1 September 2011.
