Lord Asa Briggs, one of the country’s most distinguished living historians, turns ninety this year, and he and his remarkable contribution to academic history to the development of Victorian studies, the history of communication and his role in the growth of modern universities are considered and assessed in this one-day colloquium co-hosted with the British Association for Victorian Studies.

Bibliothek schaltet Breslauer "Volkswacht" als erste digitalisierte Tageszeitung im Netz frei.
Im Rahmen des Kooperationsprojektes zwischen der Bibliothek der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung und der Universitätsbibliothek Wroclaw digitalisierte die Bibliothek der FES die sozialdemokratische Breslauer Volkswacht mit den Jahrgängen 1891 bis 1925.
Unter Leitung bedeutender Chefredakteure wie Julius Bruhns (1860-1927) und Paul Löbe (1875-1967) zählte die Volkswacht zu den bedeutendsten sozialdemokratischen Tageszeitungen im Kaiserreich und der Weimarer Republik.
